Dr. Essam Bukhary is a Saudi writer and researcher specializing in technology and innovation management.
Throughout his career, Bukhary has held various notable positions. He served as the CEO of Manga Productions, a subsidiary company of Mohammed bin Salman “Misk” Foundation, co-chaired the Executive Committee at Mohammed bin Salman Center for Future Science and Technology at the University of Tokyo, and acted as the Editor-in-Chief of Manga Arabia. Additionally, he shared his knowledge as an Associate Professor at King Abdul Aziz University and served as the Chief Advisor to the Chairman at SNK, an esteemed Japanese video game company.
He undertook the mantle of Saudi Cultural Attaché to Japan for a commendable seven-year tenure from 2008 to 2015. His diplomatic acumen earned him the distinction of being the first foreign diplomat to twice receive the prestigious Japanese Foreign Minister’s Award.
Born in the vibrant city of Taif in 1398 AH, Dr. Essam later relocated to Jeddah with his family, where he honed his educational pursuits. Recognized for his academic prowess, he secured a scholarship to Dar Alfikr Schools. He pursued his higher education abroad, earning a Ph.D. in International Studies in the field of Technology and Innovation Management from Waseda University in Japan. Prior to this, he earned both his M.A. and B.A in Industrial and System Management Engineering from the said university.
