Luis González Martín is the Managing Director of GSR Foundation (Spain), recognised as the most influential independent organisation devoted to reading and books in Spanish-language countries. Additionally, he contributes his expertise as a member of the Culture Council of the City of Madrid.
Previously, González held senior roles in various ministries, including the Director General at the Ministry of the Home Office, Ministry of Industry and Research, and Ministry of Culture. Notably, he spearheaded initiatives as the Director General for the Promotion of Publishing, Reading, and Spanish Literature, where he played a key role in formulating the National Plan for the Promotion of Reading (2001-2004).
Fuelled by his passion for literature and literacy, González has initiated impactful projects such as the visionary “2023 PARIX” endeavor, aimed at invigorating the Spanish book sector. He has also pioneered internet-based initiatives like “Readmagine,” an international event fostering innovation in publishing, and a groundbreaking pilot program for the creative industries (a video gaming and coding school). Moreover, he spearheaded the establishment of the International Center for Research and Development in Reading and he is a frequent lecturer and speaker at different institutions and events.
Educated at the prestigious Autonomous University of Madrid, González earned a Bachelor's Degree in Law and a Master's Degree in Fiscal Law and Human Resources Law Consulting. He has been a member of the Spanish Senior Civil Administrators Corps since 1992 and earned accolades for his outstanding contributions to the Spanish legal system.
