Rehana Mughal serves as the Director of the Global Creative Economy Programme at the British Council, boasting an extensive background of over 27 years in arts and cultural initiatives. Recognized as a seasoned innovator, she has demonstrated her prowess in steering projects toward success. In her role, she collaborates with diverse teams including government officials, prominent figures in the creative sector, and cultural leaders across more than 30 nations, devising impactful policies to foster the growth of creative economies.
As a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Member of the Creative Industries Council in the United Kingdom, Mughal possesses a spectrum of competencies, including cultural diplomacy, international program management, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement, honed throughout her tenure in the Gulf region and China.
Prior to her tenure at the British Council, Mughal contributed her expertise to organizations such as Arts Council England, the Southbank Centre, and Creativity, Culture, and Education. Throughout her career, she spearheaded numerous prestigious artistic and cultural initiatives aimed at amplifying cultural engagement and cultivating strategic alliances.
Mughal’s educational journey and professional endeavors have been rooted in the United Kingdom, where she was born. She holds a Master of Arts in Fine Arts from UCL, a Master’s Degree in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester, and a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art Sculpture from Winchester School of Art.
